William (Bill) George Rogers
William (Bill) George Rogers was born March 28, 1953 in Vancouver, WA. He died sober and at peace with God on October 27, 2015 in Groveland, CA, following a two-year battle with lung cancer.
Bill struggled most of his life with alcohol addiction. On November 6, 2006, he began living clean and sober, and in 2014 proudly received his 8 Year Sobriety Coin from Alcoholics Anonymous. During Bill’s time in AA, he touched the lives of hundreds of people and was instrumental in the sobriety of dozens. He had a fabulous sense of humor and always a smile. Bill was a friend to many, loved by all.
Bill was last employed by OSU in Corvallis, OR in the Agricultural Department. Prior to OSU, he worked for Foster Farms, and as an independent contractor for noxious weed removal. He retired to Tulalip, WA and then to Groveland, CA.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Aldyth Rogers, and one son, Michael. He is survived by his daughter, Rachael (Zach) Hays and granddaughter, Kailyn P. F. Hays, all of Bakersfield, CA. They were the joy of his life. Bill is also survived by his son, Gregory Rogers of Coos Bay, OR; sister Donna (Phil) Dreher of Camas; uncle Roland Michel of Bremerton; aunt Jo Ann Michel of Camas; numerous cousins and many close friends in the Alcoholics Anonymous community.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held in Groveland on November 12. Private inurnment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA.
