A Camas School Board workshop scheduled to discuss the recommendation for a $120 million construction bond will be held earlier than originally planned.
The board will meet at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Zellerbach Administration Center, 841 N.E. 22nd Ave. It was first scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
A regular meeting will follow at 5:30 p.m.
The board will talk about the recommendation from a facility advisory committee to have voters decide on a estimated $119.6 million bond. It would include funds to build an additional 600-student facility adjacent to the Camas High School site, a new Lacamas Heights Elementary School with a 600-student capacity, address parking needs at CHS, acquire property for future school sites, and renovate, modernize and re-open the Joyce Garver Theater building on Northeast Garfield Street.
If approved by voters in February 2016, the bond would appear on 2017 property tax statements. The owner of a property valued at $300.000 would pay an additional $144 per year.
