Washougal School District officials announced this morning that all schools will begin three hours late, due to inclement weather and icy road conditions.
There will be no Skills Center bus, and no Head Start, AM preschool, or special education preschool.
The SPACE care program will start at 9:30 a.m.
Other schools in the Columbia River Gorge, including in the Mount Pleasant, Skamania and Stevenson-Carson school districts, will start two hours late.
More nasty weather could be on its way.
The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for the western section of the Columbia River Gorge, from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Freezing rain and sleet is expected to develop later this afternoon and in the early evening.
“Travel through the lower elevations in the cascades, as well as the western Columbia Gorge will become very treacherous or impossible,” the warning states. “Ice can lead to danger from falling limbs or trees, as well as possibly downed power lines.”
