A detached garage and all of its contents were destroyed in a late night fire in Camas on Jan. 15.
Camas-Washougal Fire Department units were dispatched to reports of a structure fire at 2525 N.E. Everett St., in Camas. On arrival, crews found a detached garage fully involved in fire. The structure was unsafe to enter, so firefighters extinguished the fire from the exterior of the building while keeping the fire from spreading to a nearby house. The fire was put out within 10 minutes of arrival.
In addition to the contents of the garage being destroyed, according to CWFD Deputy Fire Marshal Randy Miller a 1972 boat parked in the car port next to it was also damaged.
During the incident occupants of an adjacent house were briefly evacuated, but were allowed to return after the fire was extinguished.
No damage to the house occurred and there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A total of seven units were dispatched to the fire with 13 personnel. Assistance was provided by East County Fire & Rescue.
