Waste Connections, Inc., has continued its support of “Christmas Promise,” a program that provides free bicycles for area children in need.
The annual build-a-bike event is resulting in the distribution of more than 400 new bicycles and helmets for area charities.
The recipients include the Camas-Washougal Fire Department’s and East County Fire and Rescue’s Christmas Activities Relief Organization Limited program, the Department of Social Services (Children and Family Services) and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department (“Santa’s Posse” program).
Approximately 200 volunteers, consisting of Waste Connections employees and their families, as well as bicycle groups and business partners, built the bicycles Dec. 3, at the Columbia Machine warehouse, in Vancouver.
Waste Connections started the Christmas Promise program, in 2004, originating out of its corporate office in Folsom, Calif.
