On the sidelines: Now this was a football game

After a four quarter throttle Saturday in Sammamish, the Camas High School football team defeated Eastlake 47-28 to get back to the Tacoma Dome for the third year in a row.

The Wolves ran in a touchdown on the first snap of the game. The Papermakers answered on an 11-yard reverse run for a touchdown by Zach Eagle to tie the score. Camas then took the lead when James Price caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Reilly Hennessey.

Eastlake tied the game again with about three minutes left in the second quarter. The Papermakers came alive as Eagle raced down the open field to catch a 79-yard touchdown pass from Hennessey. A Wolf clipped Eagle from behind, but he stayed on his feet and hopped into the end zone.

Camas scored another touchdown in less than a minute. Michael Johnson wrapped up the running back, Nate Beasley knocked the ball loose, Eagle scooped it up and took it back to the nest.

Eagle turned a short pass from Hennessey into a 38-yard sprint into the end zone for his fourth touchdown of the game. Eastlake countered with two touchdowns to cut the Camas lead down to 33-28 with about three minutes left in the third quarter.

The Papermakers put the Wolves to sleep by making two stops in fourth down in the fourth quarter. Beasley delivered a 15-yard touchdown run and Jason Vailea carried the ball into the end zone after Beasley took it to the 5-yard line.

Camas will face Bellermine Prep in the semifinals of the state tournament. The Papermakers are still looking for their first win at the Tacoma Dome.
