Chiawana stunned Camas with two touchdowns in the final 55 seconds to win the 4A state football championship game 27-26 Saturday, at the Tacoma Dome.
Nate Beasley scored two touchdowns in the second half for the Papermakers, who trailed 13-6 at halftime.
Beasley also snagged an interception to give Camas the ball back with 3:17 left in the game and a 26-13 lead. But the Papermakers couldn’t run out the clock or stop Chiawana from scoring 14 points in the game’s final minute.
Slav Makhalets scored a big touchdown to give Camas the lead in the third quarter. Michael Johnson returned a fumble for a touchdown to get the Papermakers on the board after they trailed by seven.
