The Camas High School football players complete their pre-game "Haka" dance Friday, at Doc Harris Stadium.

Doc Harris Stadium was rocking and rolling all night Friday, as thousands of fans huddled together to celebrate the return of Camas High School football.

“The band, crowd and students are amazing. There’s no better place to play football,” said senior John Norcross. “It’s the greatest feeling in the world when you score a touchdown and you hear the band play our fight song.”

Norcross soared across the goal line twice to help the Papermakers defeat Canby, Ore., 31-7. Vince Huber pounded the ball into the end zone on a 19-yard touchdown run. Nate Beasley snagged a shovel pass from Reilly Hennessey and turned it into a 56-yard dash into the end zone. Roldan Alcobendas kicked a 26-yard field goal.

Camas also ran a defensive clinic on the Cougars. Michael Digenova, Jason Vailea, Luke Minder, Zach Eagle, Huber, Nick Gadbaw and Nick Napier delivered massive hits on the opposition. Canby was unable to score until there were only 5 minutes, 26 left in the game.

The Papermakers return to Doc Harris Stadium this Friday to host Auburn-Mountainview. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
