Glo Beauty Lounge opens

Deborah Kirkendall is relishing the peaceful surroundings that her new business offers her and her clients.

She recently opened Glo Beauty Lounge, in the new 1887 Main building, in downtown Washougal.

“It’s meant to be relaxing,” Kirkendall said. “It’s about being a chill space.

“It’s so quiet,” she added. “I find the environment so pleasing.”

Kirkendall’s husband Jim was heavily involved in the build out process of the space.

That involved most of the painting, hanging light fixtures and building cabinets.

“He spent every day off here helping me pull it together,” Kirkendall said. “I painted the treatment room and helped build furniture and decorate.”

She described the look of the suite as “urban, Pacific Northwest with a Portland vibe,” with an industrial exposed ceiling and a polished cement floor.

Kirkendall, a manicurist and esthetician, offers a variety of nail services and facial treatments.

They include manicures, pedicures and waxing. The pedicure bowls at Glo have disposable liners.

Kirkendall offers a shellac 21-day no-chip gel polish and microderm hand resurfacing treatments. She uses polish that does not contain formaldehyde, camphor or toluene.

Kirkendall plans to hire a manicurist in the near future.

“Men’s Club” services include sports manicures and pedicures, as well as waxing and 60 minutes of skin fitness.

Microcurrent ultimate eye lifts and facials, as well as chemical resurfacing and back clearing treatments are among the other options available. The variety of facials include skin clearing, brightening, ultra calming and age smart.

Products available to purchase include the Dermalogica skin care line.

Kirkendall previously offered custom facial treatments in the Skin Deep Rejuvenation Spa at Nico Bella, in downtown Camas.

Nico Bella is owned by Wendee Swanson.

“She’s such a motivator,” Kirkendall said. “She is positive and supportive of people going on their own. She is all about entrepreneurship.”
