During this holiday season, Temple Financial is once again having its annual “Giving Tree” on display to help local families in need.

Gift items will soon be tagged on the Christmas tree in the Temple office at 532 Northeast Third Ave., in Camas.

Presents will be wrapped and delivered just before Christmas to the families they’ve adopted, according to financial advisor Chris Foster.

“Last year, we ended up adopting four families compared with two from the years prior,” he said. “This year, we’re hoping to make it even more special to a few more kids, if possible.”

Steve Temple, co-owner of Temple Financial with Foster, said area churches and non-profits were contacted to suggest names of gift recipients.

This is the third year for the Giving Tree, and the project is open to the public as well as Temple Financial clients.

“We thought it would be a really nice thing to do,” Temple said. “It means a lot to our clients to be able to participate. We’ve had stoic mill workers with tears in their eyes as they bring in presents. That is very meaningful for us, to see them actually moved by the process of helping others. It’s a very rewarding thing.”

Donations of toys and nonperishable food will be accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Temple Financial Office Manager Felicia Johnson said they also accept toothbrushes, toothpaste, dish soap, laundry soap, toilet paper, snacks, shoes and socks.

“Usually a lot of requests are for toys, warm clothes and jackets,” she said.
