Business The president of Nies Insurance has received recognition for outstanding service to the American Agency System and the insurance industry during his career.
Jerry Nies recently received the Don C. Burnam Award from the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Washington. The award was established in 1967 as a memorial to the president and founder of Western Pacific Insurance Company.
In addition to serving on the board of directors for Riverview Community Bank and Riverview Bancorp, Inc., Nies has been a member of the Washington State Insurance Commissioner’s Agent Advisory Committee and is a past president of the National Advisory Council for Safeco Insurance.
He has also been on the administrative board for the Clark County Emergency Medical Services District No. 2 and the board of directors for Northwest Heart of Gold Inc., a Portland-based nonprofit that raises money funds for cancer research at Oregon Health and Science University.
Nies is credited with contributing to many organizations including the Inter-Faith Treasure House, Hospice Christmas Adopt-a-family program, Share House, Camas High School Life Skills Program, Washougal schools athletics, Camas Educational Foundation, grad night parties, North County Food Bank and the “Read With Me” program.
