CHS presents ‘Hello Dolly!’

Camas High School Theater’s performance of “Hello Dolly,” will open Thursday.

“Hello Dolly!” is the story of Dolly Gallagher Levi, complete with upbeat songs and personality.

Classic musical numbers include “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” “Before the Parade Passes By,” “Elegance,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” and “So Long, Dearie.”

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5; and 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 10 through 12. Tickets are $7. Students with ASB cards and senior citizens tickets cost $5. Tickets are available at the door.

Audette receives DAR award

Chandler Audette, a senior at Washougal High School, has been awarded the 2010-11 Good Citizens Award by the Fort Vancouver Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Good Citizens Award is given each year to a high school senior. Students are judged on their transcripts, school and outside activities, community involvement, citizenship and commitment to a future goal. They must also write an essay on a topic announced right before he or she begins writing.

This year’s topic was “Our American heritage and our responsibility for preserving it.”

Audette’s school activities include the Interact Club, the equestrian team, National Honor Society and Red Cross club. She is also captain of the varsity basketball team, a Star mentor, and participated in Stuff the Bus.

She plans to attend the University of Oregon honors college and major in marine biology and Spanish.

Storm named to EOU dean’s list

Jana Storm of Washougal has been named to the Eastern Oregon University dean’s list for fall term 2010.

To qualify for the list, students must achieve and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework.

Local cadet makes dean’s list

Cadet Natalie Stone of Camas has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at West Point, The U.S. Military Academy.

To qualify for the list, cadets must earn a average minimum of a 3.0 GPA in all courses.

Wildlife photo contest opens

Submissions are currently being accepted for the Columbia Gorge Refuge Stewards Nature and Wildlife Youth Photo Contest.

Camas and Washougal high school students are invited to enter their original images taken at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Washougal. Deadline for entries is May 2.

Prizes for the top entries include gift cards from Pro Photo Supply.
