The owner of Rushing Water Yoga, in downtown Camas, is providing area residents with several opportunities to learn about his trip to India.
Paul Cheek will offer a slide show and discussion Sunday, Dec. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., at his studio, 417 N.E. Birch St. Attendees are requested to bring their own bowls, spoons, cloth napkins and cups for dal, veggies, rice and chai. A similar presentation, offered in November, attracted 35 people, and another event could occur next month.
Cheek spent several weeks in India in January, studying yoga six days a week. He visited a synagogue, a mosque, a Buddhist temple carved out of a mountain and a 300-year-old Catholic church. Cheek also saw historic sites such as Bibi-ka-Maqbara — known as the “poor man’s Taj Mahal, built in 1697 – and he toured the gardens at Pune University, sometimes referred to as “the Oxford of the East.”
