Camas officials mull 50-50 split to keep officers in schools

Camas Police Chief Tina Jones approached Camas City Council members this week with a request for city officials to increase the city’s share of a 23-year-old funding agreement between the city and the Camas School District that pays for two school resource officers (SROs).

Camas North Shore subarea plan gets final approval

It’s official: after six years of subarea planning, Camas’ nearly 900-acre North Shore is poised to become a unique area featuring hundreds of acres of green space, mixed-use developments, stronger protections for trees, a focus on walkability and sustainability, a more diverse mix of housing types that should lead to more affordable housing options and a blend of zoning and design standards that will set North Shore apart from other Camas neighborhoods.

Bridge Island Arts and Vintage opens in Camas

Bryce and Shelley Caldwell are no strangers to the art of retailing. The siblings, who recently opened their Bridge Island Arts and Vintage shop in southeast Camas, grew up in Indiana watching their mother, Linda Caldwell, run the country gift shop she operated for two decades.

Camas officials delay decision on Station 41 replacement contract

Nearly two years after a consultants’ report showed the Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD)’s downtown Camas-based fire station headquarters, Fire Station 41, would not withstand a major earthquake and should be replaced sooner rather than later, Camas officials are set to consider a contract with a Battle Ground architectural firm that would get the ball rolling on Station 41’s eventual replacement and possibly re-siting.
