Camas-Washougal firefighters rescued a man and his two dogs from this home on Feb. 14, after a small kitchen fire spread, causing smoke to fill the residence. The firefighters union later filed a complaint with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, alleging that low staffing numbers at the fire department lead to unsafe working conditions and make it hard for firefighters to put out fires and save people trapped inside burning buildings. Camas responds to firefighters’ safety complaint

After a local firefighters’ union filed an “unsafe work environment” complaint with the state, claiming the Camas-Washougal Fire Department’s low staffing levels place firefighters at risk of not being able to save lives and fight fires, the city of Camas issued a statement explaining the fire department’s staffing levels, policies and protocol.

Camas teen sentenced for threat to kill classmates

A Camas teen accused of threatening to kill several Camas High School classmates has been found guilty of felony harassment and sentenced to one year of probation and nine days in detention, with time served.
