Camas fined over firefighter safety

The Washington Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) has issued fines totalling $4,800 against the city of Camas for violating safe workplace standards and endangering Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD) firefighters.

Fireworks debate heats up in Camas

City of Camas leaders have reopened an ongoing debate about the use of personal fireworks within city limits. At a public hearing held last week, Camas city councilors and Mayor Scott Higgins heard testimony from concerned residents, and said they were considering four options, including an outright ban on all personal fireworks.

Funds flow in to help restaurateurs

An online fundraiser to help the owners of a downtown Camas restaurant, who were badly burned in a kitchen accident earlier this month, has surpassed its 50 percent mark after just six days.
