Donate blood: One way to prepare for the unexpected

If this past week's traumatic events in Washougal have taught us anything, it might be that life can take some tragic and unexpected turns, and put us in situations we never imagined possible. The truth is, we really never know what may lie just around that corner or behind that door.

Police closed a four-block area in Washougal Wednesday morning as they responded to reports of shots fired and a house on fire. All businesses and residences within a four-block area between 32nd and 34th Streets, and between Evergreen Way and Webster Lane were evacuated. Four schools were also on lock down.

Three bodies found in Washougal home

Five days after a raging house fire and shoot out stunned the small town of Washougal, police confirmed yesterday that the remains of three people were found among the blackened ashes and rubble.

CFD, WFD ‘swap’ captains

Another major step in the trial merger effort between the Camas and Washougal fire departments was put into place last week. On Dec. 6, two captains "swapped" departments. WFD Capt. Larry Saari is now working out of the downtown Camas fire station as the training officer, while CFD Capt. Greg Payne is now based from WFD Station 171. "This is a significant event in the history of the Camas and Washougal fire departments, and likewise a major event in the trial merger between the two departments," CFD Chief Nick Swinhart said in a written statement.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating 57-year-old Christopher Michael Kane, who was reported missing by family members on Wednesday.

Police blocked off a four-block area in Washougal Wednesday as they responded to reports of shots fired and a house on fire at 3275 "F" Place.

Update: Shots fired, house burns down in Washougal

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, neighborhoods finally re-opened and power restored following a tense situation that began just after 8 a.m. and involved a house fire, explosions and numerous gunshots fired from a Washougal residence.

Investigators discover two bodies

The dead bodies of two adults and four dogs were discovered today at the scene of Wednesday's house fire and shooting at 3275 "F" Place in Washougal.

Walk & Knock on Saturday

In just a few days, one of the largest volunteer efforts in Clark County will get underway. The Walk & Knock started in 1982, by two men who simply had a desire to help those in need, an idea about how to do it, and a serious drive to make it happen.
