Brooks & John will perform in Washougal

A well-known local musician will perform at the Washburn Performing Arts Center in Washougal Saturday, for the last time. Fingerstyle guitarist John Standefer, a former Camas-Washougal area resident, will take the stage with Brooks Robertson at 7 p.m.

Fund set up to help family of accident victim

A fund has been set up to accept donations to help the family of a pedestrian killed in Camas on Dec. 23. Anneice B. Fich, 66, was hit by a vehicle as she tried to cross Northeast Third Avenue at Weir Street in Camas while pushing a stroller carrying her 2-year-old great-grandson, Eduardo "Lalo" Herrera-Berra.

Second fire district commissioner resigns

For the second time in less than three months, an East County Fire and Rescue commissioner has resigned. On Dec. 17, Chairman George F. "Jack" Hoober, 81, submitted his letter of resignation to ECFR officials.

Police arrest suspects in vehicle prowl cases

Two Vancouver residents were arrested Monday in connection with numerous vehicle prowls that had recently taken place in Camas. According to a press release from the Camas Police Department, on Dec. 22 law enforcement units responded to a call of a vehicle prowl in progress. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle and stopped it. The occupants were identified as Joshua L. Huggins, 35, and Destiny L. Ortiz, 25, both of Vancouver.
