ECFR, CWFD partnership discussions surface again

A financial analysis of a potential merger or additional partnership opportunities between the East County Fire and Rescue and the Camas-Washougal Fire Department could begin soon.

A stolen Nissan pickup truck crashed into a Camas home this morning. The driver fled the scene, but was quickly captured by police. He will be booked into the Clark County Jail on multiple charges. The owner of the home was inside at the time of the incident, although she was not injured.

Stolen vehicle crashes into Camas house

A man was arrested this afternoon after he drove a stolen truck into a Camas area home. At 11:15 a.m., Washington State Patrol received reports of a Nissan truck being driven recklessly eastbound on state Route 14.

Injuries keep local emergency crews busy

Local emergency crews responded to three separate incidents during the weekend that involved injuries caused by jumping into the Washougal River.

Educators air frustrations at Camas forum

Emotions ranging from anger and frustration to sadness were present Saturday as local educators took part in a town hall meeting in Camas hosted by Sen. Ann Rivers (R- La Center) and Rep. Brandon Vick (R-Felida).

Filing week comes to an end

More than 100 candidates registered to run for elected office in Clark County during filing week. After kicking off on Monday morning, filing week ends today at 5 p.m. There are a total of 90 offices that will be on the ballot.

Dave Kuhlman speaks in March during opening ceremonies held to mark the beginning of the baseball season at Louis Bloch Park in Camas. The Camas-Washougal Babe Ruth vice president was recently honored by the Parks Foundation of Clark County. He received the Florence B. Wager V-Formation Flyer Award, in recognition of his efforts to lead the charge resulting in the completion of more than $200,000 in  improvements at the popular baseball facility.

Kuhlman earns Parks Foundation award

The Parks Foundation of Clark County recently honored a local man for his tenacity and commitment to the area's youth. Through his efforts to bring new lights, bleachers and a scoreboard to Louis Bloch Park in Camas, Camas-Washougal Babe Ruth President Dave Kuhlman received the V-Formation Flyer Florence B. Wager Award. The presentation was made during the annual Parks Foundation luncheon in April.

Virginia Warren has celebrated her birthday by hiking the Beacon Rock trail for the past several years. To mark her recent 90th birthday, she will do so again on Wednesday with a group of girlfriends.

Ninety years young

Each year thousands of people summit Beacon Rock, the 848-foot tall core of an ancient volcano. Traversing the mile-long trail of switchbacks, boasting an elevation gain of 600 feet, includes well-earned views of The Gorge. It is considered a challenging hike for most. On Wednesday, Virginia Warren will join a handful of her girlfriends to make the ascent up and descent down this iconic basalt formation that juts into the Columbia River.
