The parking lot at the north end of the Heritage Trail filled up quickly on Monday afternoon, when the clouds dissipated and the sun began to shine. The city of Camas plans to begin construction on a parking lot expansion project later this year.

A land slide occurred on a steep hillside along Lacamas Lane in Camas in early December following a bout of heavy rain. The Camas City Council recently approved a contract with a Vancouver company to complete engineering work for the repair project. Next up will be design and construction.

The downtown Camas shopping park was completed in May 1967. Trees, flowers and bushes were planted. Thirty-four ornamental lights were erected to replace mercury vapor lights. Sidewalks were widened, to accommodate the addition of four canopies, also referred to as "mushroom umbrellas," and the installation of 25 redwood benches.
