Beautiful day for a run

Courtney Owens traversed the sand, gravel, dirt and grass at Capt. William Clark Park in record time Wednesday. The Washougal High School sophomore crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 21 minutes, 19 seconds. "It's a lot harder than normal because your feet are always slipping, but it's a good challenge," Owens said. "Once I got off the beach, I said 'you got this.' I felt pretty good coming around to the finish."

The beat goes on for Camas football

The beat goes on for the Camas football team, to the tune of 77-21. Battle Ground scored a touchdown within the first three minutes of Thursday's game at District Stadium. After that, it was all Papermakers.

First slowpitch softball season a success

The Papermakers left everything on the diamond during the slowpitch softball district championship game Monday, at Heritage High School. Kamryn Schroeder, Tori O'Neill and Emma Jimenez led off the top of the seventh inning with back-to-back-to-back hits to load the bases. Rio Smith added an RBI single, Katie Schroeder delivered a 3-run double and McKinley Johnson knocked in a run on a ground out. Abbi Wong and Kennedy Ferguson kept the rally alive with 2-out base hits, but the next Papermaker grounded out to end the game. Skyview held on for a 12-10 victory.
