Community solar project wins statewide award

Clark Public Utilities’ (CPU) Community Solar East, a 799-kilowatt solar array at the Port of Camas-Washougal’s industrial park, has been selected as one of 12 winners of the 2024 Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC) Governor’s Smart Communities awards, which recognize local governments and their partners for exceptional land use planning and development.

The city of Washougal is proposing to double the amount of money residents can collect per year from its emergency utility assistance program (EUAP).

Washougal man completes 1,000-mile trek on paddleboard

After seven years, three surgeries, 18 months of physical therapy, more than $56,000 in charitable donations and 1,000 miles of rigorous paddleboarding, Michael Curtis is about to complete the most ambitious journey of his self-described “adventurous life.”

Washougal car dealership first in county to offer new statewide EV rebate

Like many other car dealerships across the United States, Westlie Ford has been impacted by the decreased customer demand for electric vehicles in the past several years. Nevertheless, the Washougal-based dealership remains firmly invested in the EV market, cautiously optimistic that consumers will view EVs more favorably as technology improves.

Washougal Business Association head proposes new wayfinding kiosk

In 2019, Paul Greenlee traveled to Windsor, California, with his wife for a wine-tasting vacation. One of the first things he noticed upon arriving in the Russian River Valley town was its wayfinding sign, composed of 18 smaller, brightly-colored signs featuring the names of local businesses (salons, restaurants, toys, real estate, etc.) and arrows pointing to the left or right.

‘A pretty big accomplishment’

Five members of Camas-based Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 562 achieved the rank of Eagle Scout during a ceremony on Aug. 10 at the Camas Church of the Nazarene.

Washougal Art and Music Festival returns Saturday

Susan Fronckowiak’s two young children enjoyed the playhouse their father built for them on the family’s rural Washougal property after they relocated to Clark County in the late 2000s, but naturally grew out of it as they got older.
