Parker’s Landing cleanups set

The Parkersville National Historic Site Advisory Committee (PAC) will host “park cleanup” sessions at Parker’s Landing Historical Park in Washougal from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, and Tuesday, May 16, in preparation for the second annual Parkersville Day event.

Brewers Alliance accuses former distribution company of ‘bullying’

A nonprofit organization that supports breweries in Southwest Washington says that its former distribution company is “strong-arming” and “bullying” its businesses, including Washougal’s 54-40 Brewing Company and Trap Door Brewing, and Camas’ Grains of Wrath Brewing, by assigning them to “alternate distributors” without consulting them.

Youth mental health training coming to WHS

Barb Seaman closely interacts with teenagers on a daily basis in her role as Washougal High School’s library media instructor. As such, she sees them when they’re at their best and she sees them at their worst. Lately, she’s seen more of the latter.

Native plant nursery blossoms in Washougal

Hannah Schrager didn’t consider herself to be particularly “outdoorsy” when she was growing up, even though she thought at one point that she wanted to become a vegetable farmer. But now, every time she sees the leaf of a Trillium flower or trout lily delicately emerging from recently thawed ground in springtime, she experiences feelings of wonder and awe.

Distribution company’s sale to PepsiCo causes dismay

A Ridgefield-based beverage distribution company’s decision to dissolve its craft beer distributors will “injure” many local and regional breweries, including Washougal’s 54-40 Brewing Company and Camas’ Grains of Wrath Brewing, “for years to come,” according to a nonprofit organization that represents Southwest Washington beer makers.

New Washougal nonprofit focuses on helping students in need

For the past several years, Nancy Nass-Boon and Penny Porche have worked as coordinators for the Washougal School District’s family resource center, which provides students and families with referrals to community resources, parenting information, food, clothing, healthcare, computer and internet access, school supplies and more.
