Lori Reed, the owner of the Washougal-based graphic design firm Reed Creative, has been thinking a lot about the way McMenamins, the Pacific Northwest chain of pubs, restaurants, historic hotels and movie theaters, encourages customers to visit its more than 60 locations.

Environmental group eyes Campen Creek restoration

From June 2020 to May 2022, the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership (LCEP) led an effort to complete the largest habitat restoration project on the Columbia River to date, creating more than 100 acres of wetland, reforesting 250 acres of riparian habitat, planting more than 500,000 trees and shrubs, reconnecting 965 acres of Columbia River floodplain, and adding 1.1 miles of trails at the Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge in Washougal.

Washougal nabs $10M loan for biosolids facility

The city of Washougal has received a $10 million Public Works Assistance Account (PWAA) loan for the construction of a new biosolids handling facility from the Washington State Public Works Board.

Community-School Partnership takes off in Washougal

Barb Seaman began to think about the possibilities of a community volunteer tutoring program for Washougal High School students several years ago after one of her sons failed his algebra class. Knowing he would have to pass the class in order to get into college, she asked him to take the class again, but knew that he’d require more support to succeed the second time around.
