Local residents talked about items that they could get rid of, to reduce the amount of clutter in their homes, during a recent Seniors and Law Enforcement Together meeting. Examples included Oxfords from high school, duplicate kitchen utensils and 20-year-old financial records.

Decluttering senior households

Spring cleaning can provide motivation to reduce the amount of stuff that is taking up space. LaRhea Steele, of Camas, recently cleaned out linen and clothes closets. She donated some full size sheets to Arc of Southwest Washington, and clothing that is no longer being worn will go to a church rummage sale.

Huan Vu, owner of The Vutique, is appreciating his business' location in downtown Camas. "I wanted to have a new perspective and refresh my horizons," he said regarding the relocation of his shop from Seattle. "I wanted to expand my artistic ability by moving to peaceful surroundings." He first visited Camas in the early 1990s, to purchase a collection of vintage garments.

The Vutique sells sustainable fashion

An eclectic mix of women's clothing and accessories can be found at The Vutique, in downtown Camas. The business' owner, Huan Vu, describes the shop's inventory as "a combination of vintage clothing and sustainable fashion."

Rick Wagner, BNSF director of public works, traveled from Seattle, Monday, for an introductory meeting with Washougal Mayor Sean Guard and City Administrator David Scott. Washougal City Councilwoman Joyce Lindsay showed up during the discussions about rail issues. Guard plans to monitor the impacts of rail traffic in Washougal through noon, Friday.

Guard continues railside retreat

Washougal Mayor Sean Guard said more than 225 people have stopped by to visit him at his makeshift campsite at 32nd and Main streets since noon Friday.
