Brian Humphreys, a former 4A Washington State champion, was among the best junior golfers from the Western United States and Canada, who participated in the Eddie Hogan Cup. The tournament was held Aug. 8 and 9, at Riverside Golf & Country Club, in Portland. A month earlier, Humphreys, a senior at Camas High School, won the Klamath Basin Junior Championship, in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Individuals who paid $17 online or $20 at the gate of the Weird Beer on the River festival received a souvenir glass and tickets for six tastings of beer, wine or hard cider. Options for designated drivers included soda and bottled water. The first-time event was a benefit for CDM Caregiving Services, of Vancouver.
