Luz Guitron is pictured here with her daughter and two sons. The 35-year-old Camas mother of three school-aged children, including a Camas High senior, was found murdered in her home off Northeast Everett Street on Sunday, March 18. Camas police have named Guitron's boyfriend, Guillermo Juarez, as their primary suspect and say he may have fled the area. A vigil for Guitron will be held from 6 p.m. today, through 8 a.m. Wednesday, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10955 S.E. 25th Ave., Milwaukie, Ore. A Rosary will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, followed by a funeral at noon, also at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Camas mother murdered; police seek suspect

Police continued their hunt for a suspected murderer this week, after relatives found the body of Luz Guitron, a 35-year-old Camas mother of three, inside her home Sunday.

Port may score biggest riverboat in West

The Port of Camas-Washougal would welcome the largest riverboat west of the Mississippi — the American Empress — a 360 foot long and 58 foot wide vessel that has room for 223 passengers — if Port commissioners approve the funding of improvements to the Port’s guest dock.

Egg hunts set in Camas, Washougal

Looking for a few Easter-themed egg hunts in Camas and Washougal? We have you covered. Following are three upcoming, “EGG-stra” special events for local families:

Alex Smokehouse, located at 1834 Main St., in downtown Washougal, serves house smoked meats in sandwiches and salads. The restaurant, originally named Alex's BBQ, also has soups, lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. The tap room, previously owned by Kevin King of Amnesia Brewing, has a variety of beer on tap. Amnesia Brewing closed in December of 2017. A new operator for the brewery will be announced soon.

Alex Smokehouse serves smoked meat in Washougal

A restaurant and tap room in downtown Washougal specializes in serving meats smoked on site. Alex Smokehouse has smoked salmon, turkey, pork and chicken, for use in salads and sandwiches.
