CHS seeks community volunteers

Camas High School is seeking community volunteers to serve on the panel of judges for the annual senior board presentations.

The presentations will be held on May 31, June 1 and June 2 from 7:15-10:15 a.m.

Volunteers may participate in as many sessions as they want.

Training for boards will be held at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, May 23 at the CHS library, 26900 S.E. 15th St.

Childfind screening Wednesday

There will be free screenings for children ages 3 to 5 years old living in Camas School District boundaries on Wednesday, May 4.

The screening tests children in hearing, vision, speech, concepts and motor development, and lasts approximately one hour.

Results are confidential and discussed with parents only.

Screenings are done by appointment only by calling the Special Services Department at 833-5570.

Library needs volunteers for summer

The Camas Public Library is taking applications for volunteers to work at the library during the summer reading program.

Adults and teens at least 13 years old will sit in the library while signing participants up, logging reading times and issuing prizes.

Volunteers must turn in an application by Monday, May 23, be able to quickly learn the online computer program the library uses to track progress, have an email address that is checked regularly, attend a 90-minute training, enjoy talking to kids, be punctual, be friendly and love reading.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of four hours per week for 10 weeks.

The summer reading program runs June 4 through Aug. 13.

CEF seeks board members

Camas Educational Foundation is currently seeking board members for the 2016-17 school year.

CEF funds learning opportunities for students in the Camas School District that are not paid for with the district budget.

Board members serve a 3-year term and can be voted into executive positions their second year. They must be reliable communicators with other board members and the Camas community.

Mount Pleasant School takes applications for Hi-Cap program

Mount Pleasant School in Washougal is currently accepting applications for its Highly Capable program for the 2016-17 school year.

Mount Pleasant has programs for students in kindergarten through seventh-grade.
