Childfind screening set

The Camas School District is hosting a Childfind screening for children ages 3 to 5 residing within district boundaries on Wednesday.

The appointment lasts one hour and tests children in hearing, vision, speech, concepts and motor development.

Appointments must be made in advance.

Results are confidential and are discussed with parents only.

Call the Special Services Department at 833-5570 to schedule an appointment.

Junior Symphony concert is March 20

The Junior Symphony of Vancouver is hosting a spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20.

It will be held at Northside Baptist Church, 5201 Minnehaha St.

Tickets, $10 each, are available at the door. For more information, call 696-4084.

WSU-V hosts PTSD forum

A forum to discuss strategies to help students with post-traumatic stress disorder manage coursework, academic tasks and physical space in classrooms will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22 in the library building. The forum is free and open to the public.

Ryan “Doc” McNabb, an outreach specialist with the Portland Vet Center, will present an explanation of PTSD characteristics and some strategies. Guests can share what they have found helpful or ask questions.

Co-op preschool to host open house

The Camas-Washougal Parent Co-op Preschool is inviting local families with preschool aged children to visit the school on Thursday.

Children are encouraged to attend with their families to meet teachers, spend time in the classrooms, and participate in hands-on activities.

The open house takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m, at 1206 N.E. Birch, in the lower level of St. John’s Presbyterian Church.

Live Music Monday will be Feb. 22

Live music will return to the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22.

Dana Rohlfs and Jake Rust will perform an acoustic set in the totem pole room. This is a Camas High School senior project by Cameron Guess.

The event is free and suitable for all ages.

Applications sought for youth achievement awards

Applications are now being accepted by YWCA Clark County for the Young Women of Achievement Scholarship awards.

Three Clark County high school students will be awarded scholarships in May 2016. Female students in the 12th grade are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship awards align with YWCA Clark County’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people. Top candidates will possess an outstanding achievement in volunteering, school leadership roles, community involvement, expresses commitment to the YWCA mission and serve as a role model.
