The Downtown Washougal Association is asking local consumers to Shop Small on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, and then show their support by taking “selfies” at the stores and post at #Shopsmall.
“The selfie promotion is just a cool way to help spread the word about the fun and benefits of shopping in our community,” said Courtney Wilkinson, DWA president. “We love our small businesses. They are the heart of our community and are critical to enhancing the quality of life in Washougal.”
Many Washougal businesses will have posters, pennants, table tent cards and more promoting the event. While supplies last, reusable canvas Shop Small bags will be distributed. Stores may also have special offers for shoppers and signs and props for a fun selfie.
“There are so many ways that we can support small business,” said Wilkinson. “You can go shopping or dining at a local small business, invite friends to shop with you, or share a photo on your social networks where you shopped with #ShopSmall.”
Shop Small is a movement encouraging consumers to shop at small town businesses. American Express started the program four years ago, and now millions of individuals, businesses and communities have embraced the effort nationwide.
