Editorials, Opinion The countdown to the General Election has begun.
Locally, there are less than a handful of races that will be decided on Nov. 3. Among them are Camas City Council Ward 1, Timothy J. Hazen and Shawn High; Washougal City Council Position 4, Joyce Lindsay and Jason Dodge, and Position 7, Molly L. Coston and Dan Coursey. In addition, the candidates vying for Clark County Chair position are Mike Dalesandro and Marc Boldt.
All of these candidates have spent the past few months debating the issues — growth, marijuana, development, affordable housing, infrastructure and the economy. They have hit the pavement, waving signs and knocking on doors in an effort to reach their constituents. They’ve also participated in forums and answered a variety of questions aimed at discovering what unique qualities and perspectives they will bring to the offices they are seeking.
Now, it’s time for voters to make decisions.
As of this morning, with eight days left until Election Day, of the 251,348 ballots that were mailed to Clark County voters approximately 29,600 have been returned. That’s a lot of ballots that are still sitting unopened on the kitchen table, next to the phone, and in the back of the car.
To count, ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 3, or hand-delivered to a ballot drop-off location by 8 p.m. that same day.
