Patriot’s Pen essay contest set in CW
The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary are hosting the annual essay contests for students in third- through 12th grade.
The theme for high school students is, “My Vision for America.” Middle school students’ theme is “What Freedom Means to Me,” and the theme for youth in third through fifth grade is, “Why is America my favorite country.”
The essay contests gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. The top prizes include savings bonds, scholarships and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
Essays are due by Sunday, Nov. 1. Representatives from VFW and Auxiliary Post 4278 Camas/Washougal will collect essays from local schools on Friday, Oct. 30.
