The Tunk Valley Grange served as the command center for the community. "We have been involved in aide missions to New Orleans after Katrina and Haiti after the earthquake," Jonason said. "We wanted a chance to help in our own backyard."
George Ryland, a former Camas resident, helped unload donated supplies from a truck. The retired Oregon Army National Guard medic previously served two tours in the Middle East. Ryland, of Keizer, Oregon, and Scott Jonason previously assisted victims of Hurricane Katrina, in New Orleans.
Three people with ties to the Camas-Washougal area recently spent a few days in north-central Washington, to help individuals affected by the Okanogan complex fires.
