Editorials, Opinion Thanks to the record-breaking stretch of unseasonably warm weather, it seems like summer has been underway in the Pacific Northwest for quite some time.
When it comes to the season’s events and activities, however, the fun is just getting started.
On Saturday, the 10th annual Camas Car Show will draw hundreds of people and classic and custom cars to downtown. It has become one of the area’s most popular events, and serves as a benefit for the Inter-Faith Treasure House — a food bank and thrift store that serves individuals and families in need in Camas and Washougal. Attendees can bring donations of non-perishable food items, then stroll through the tree-lined streets, view some incredible cars, hear live music, eat delicious food and more.
In Washougal, a brand new event will take place at Marina Park in Washougal. It’s safe to say that Weird Beer on the River will likely be remembered as one of the more unique festivals. More than 25 breweries will converge at the scenic waterfront location Friday and Saturday to offer what has been touted as “some of the weirdest beers imaginable.” Brewers have been challenged to use ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, candy, seafood and even food-grade insects. The results should be interesting, to say the least.
Other events to look forward to during the next few months include Camas Days July 24 and 25, Concerts in the Park starting July 22, Spartan Race Aug. 8, Vintage Art Faire Aug. 29 and Dinner in White on the Columbia Sept. 12.
