News When it comes to local races, the first day of the candidate filing week produced no surprises.
On Monday, 10 incumbents filed for re-election to their positions on Camas and Washougal councils and boards.
As the current Camas mayor announced he would on April 28, Scott Higgins filed to run for a second term. Currently sitting Camas City Council members Tim Hazen (Ward 1), Bonnie Carter (Ward 2), Greg Anderson (Ward 3) and Don Chaney (at-large) also filed.
In Washougal, City Councilors Michelle C. Wagner (Position 2) and Joyce Lindsay (Position 4) filed for re-election. On the Camas School Board, incumbents Doug Quinn (District 4) and Connie Hennessey (District 3) filed for re-election, in addition to Bill Ward (District 2) for his seat on the Port of Camas-Washougal Commission, a position he has held since January 2008.
In Clark County government, two positions on the County Council are open. Current councilors Tom Mielke and David Madore, both Republicans, will both be running for the at-large chair seat, while Julie Olson (Republican) and Tanner Martin (no party preference), both Ridgefield residents, filed for the District 2 position.
