Chen earns dean’s list honors

Xinyang Chen of Camas has been named to the Dean’s List for fall semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

To qualify, students must earn at least a 3.O GPA for the semester.

Camas Parks & Rec seeking summer camp donations

Camas Parks & Recreation is looking for donations of art supplies to use for their summer camp programs. Items needed include clean paint brushes in all sizes, construction paper or rolls of craft paper, and left over acrylic or tempura paint.

Recycled items such as beads, yarn, buttons, ceramic or glass tiles, zippers, seashells, decorative rocks, colored sand, Scrabble letter tiles, playing cards (incomplete decks are fine too), coffee cans and shoe boxes are also requested.

Call 834-5307 or e-mail tconnolly@cityofcamas.us with any questions. Items can be dropped off at Lacamas Lake Lodge, 227 N.E. Lake Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Rakoski named to dean’s list

Alexa Rakoski of Camas was named to the dean’s list at the University of Notre Dame’s College of Science for the Fall 2014 semester.

Students must be in the top 30 percent of students in their college.

Local students winners at Clark College Jazz Festival

Washougal High School students took third-place in the AA division for a high school jazz ensemble final.

The event was part of the annual Clark College Jazz Festival, which included three days of big band jazz from bands across the state.

Ryan Perkins, a WHS student, was also given an “outstanding high school musician,” award.

Page Turners to meet March 10

Page Turners, a book discussion group for students and their parents, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave.

This month’s book is “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH,” by Robert C. O’Brien.

Participants sign out a special copy of the book prior to the meeting and read it.

Those who come to the meeting get to keep the book. Snacks will be served.

Two Camas students qualify for Whitworth Laureate Society

Two Camas residents, Kimberly Tadlock and Hannah Tweet, have been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for fall semester 2014.

To qualify, a student must earn a GPA of at least 3.75.

Whitworth University is located in Spokane.
