A woman pushing a stroller was killed Tuesday night after being hit by a car as she was crossing Northeast Third Avenue at Weir Street in Camas.
According to the Camas Police Department, at 4:57 p.m. a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Northeast Third Avenue when it collided with the female pedestrian.
When emergency crews arrived, they found a woman laying in the roadway being tended to by several bystanders. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Camas-Washougal Fire Department personnel.
The woman was pushing a stroller with a child inside at the time of the collision. The child appeared to be uninjured, but was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver for an evaluation.
The adult male driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was not injured. He remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
