After locking up the league title, the Camas volleyball team will host the district championship match Wednesday.
“It’s a good accomplishment for the girls, but they’re always looking ahead,” said head coach Julie Nidick. “Ultimately, their goal is to get back to state. But you can never overlook and opponent or a step in the process. That’s when an upset can happen.”
The Papermakers are going to the bi-district tournament Friday and Saturday, at Kentwood High School, but they want that number-one seed. That takes a win Wednesday.
“The pressure is really setting in. We have to put our best foot forward if we want to make it to state,” said junior middle blocker Sophi Jacobson. “We’ve have improved and we’re executing on what we say we are going to do instead of just talking about it. I think that’s starting to show in our results.”
Camas opened the league schedule at Skyview and lost in three sets. The Papermakers beat the Storm at home in four sets. Camas also defeated Union twice.
