Aviation resource fair set

Anyone who is interested in learning about careers and educational possibilities in the field of aviation is invited to attend the Aviation Education Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at Pearson Field in Vancouver.

The event will host many aviation employers and provide the chance to learn about educational opportunities in aviation.

Admission is free.

Local helps win Mock Trial

Allison Emmet of Camas helped her St. Mary’s Academy team members win the state championship for Mock Trial.

Emmet, a junior, and 12 other girls placed first out of 14 teams. They will head to the National Mock Trial Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., next month.

The competition is organized by the Classroom Law Project.

Excelsior student earns honors

Casey Volgmann has been named student of the month at Excelsior High School in Washougal.

Called, “Phoenix on Fire,“ students chosen for this honor exemplify the characteristics of being inspiring, responsible, respectful, having great attendance, an excellent work ethic and a positive attitude.

Smith is a ‘Woman of Distinction’

McKenna Smith, a senior at Camas High School, has been named a “Woman of Distinction,” by Washington State University Vancouver.

Every year, the college concludes Women’s History Month by celebrating women who, “Inspire, mentor and empower others.”

Smith has been on the yearbook staff since her sophomore year and is editor-in-chief this year. She has been a teen mentor and volunteer at the Humane Society of Southwest Washington for two years.

Smith plans to attend WSU Vancouver and become a neonatal intensive care nurse.
