Twenty Camas Papermakers and six Washougal Panthers qualified for the state track and field championships Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
The Camas girls captured their third straight 3A bi-district championship Saturday, at Mt. Tahoma. The Papermaker boys finished in fifth.
Alexa Efraimson won the 800-meter run and set a new meet record time of 2 minutes, 12.26 seconds. She has the fastest time in the state and the sixth-best time in the nation.
“There are so many talented runners in the region and the state,” Efraimson said. “It’s going to be a great opportunity to run against them, and to know my teammates are there to support me.”
Amber Corbett clinched first place in the javelin with a throw of 126 feet, 5 inches. Camille Parsons claimed second in the 1,600 (5:06.04), Austen Reiter took fourth (5:11.88) and Alissa Pudlitzke placed sixth (5:15.36). Pudlitzke also grabbed third in the 3,200 (11:16.56).
