Kelley makes dean’s list

Megan Kelley of Camas was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Boise State University. Kelley is a 2011 graduate of Camas High School.

Camas students make president’s list

Austin Webberley and Paige Webberley of Camas were named the president’s list at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. To be named to the list, students must earn at least a 3.65 GPA.

Applications sought for scholarships

The Corrine Wallace Memorial Scholarship Fund is offering financial assistance to qualified candidates either currently enrolled in a Christian college or those planning to attend one in the fall. It is offered through local churches and spearheaded by Gateway Community Church.

The fund offers $10,000 in scholarships, ranging from $500 and $3,000.

To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be a resident of Camas or Washougal, a graduate of either Camas or Washougal high schools or home schooled.

Interested parties also must be involved in a local evangelical church, and planning to attend a local Christian college as a full-time student.

Would-be recipients must also have a grade point average of at least 2.5 while in high school and 3.0 or greater if attending college.

There are several area colleges approved for attendance by scholarship awardees, including Multnomah University in Portland, Corban College in Salem, and George Fox University in Newberg, and Seattle Pacific University in Seattle.

In addition, scholarships have also been awarded to students going to schools out of the area.

Applications are available at Gateway Community Church, 1235 ‘E’ St., Washougal. Completed applications should be mailed to or dropped off at the church by Saturday, March 31.

Recipients will be announced during the summer.

Camas students named to WMEA all-state youth chorus

Six students who attend Camas elementary schools have been named to the Washington Music Educators Association All-State Youth Honor Chorus.

The students will rehearse together under the direction of a nationally known conductor and present a concert on Saturday in Yakima.

The students were selected through auditions and will join 150 other young performers for the event.

They include Dorothy Fox fifth-grader Laura Teames (alto voice); Grass Valley fifth-graders Laura Langdale (alto voice), Tara Larsen (alto voice), Catherine Lomprey (alto voice) and Janessa Wilson (soprano voice) and Prune Hill Elementary fifth-grader Aristia McLaughlin (soprano voice).

Washougal students named to honor choir

Five students from Hathaway Elementary School were named to the Columbia River Music Educator’s Association honor choir.

Students were selected based on a formal audition, attendance and behavior in music class, and willingness to commit to learning music on their own before a March 24 concert.

The students are Alexis Arnold, Keyonna Doner, Sean Finucane, Tristan Elliott and Kalisity Rink.

JWR Boys and Girls Club sets closure days

The Jack, Will & Rob Boys and Girls Club in Camas will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 23 and 24.
