Excelsior student wins Watershed Reflections contest
Travis Hibbs, a junior at Excelsior High School in Washougal, was selected as a winner in an art contest.
His photo was chosen as the winner for the ninth to 12th-grade category in the Clark Public Utilities Stream Team 2011 Watershed Reflections Contest.
The theme was, “We all live in a watershed.”
Hibbs’s teacher, Trudy Tkach, incorporated the watershed project into her botany class.
Students could choose to write poem or short story, take a photo or paint a picture.
“We are all very proud of Travis,” Tkach said.
Hibbs and the other winners were announced at Clark Public Utilities’ Earth Day celebration on April 23.
