Lacamas Elementary collecting printer cartridges

Lacamas Heights Elementary School students are participating in the printer cartridge recycle program with Cartridge World.

The school receives money for the cartridges collected from parents, community members and businesses throughout the school year. Cartridges that earn the most funds are Cannon 40 and 41: HP 74 and 75 High Yield; HP 901 XL black or color; HP 22, 28 or 57 Tri-color; and 60XL black or color.

However, the recycling program will take all cartridges.

These can be dropped off at the school library, 4600 N.E. Garfield St., in Camas.

Students accepted into national singing group

Four students from the Grass Valley Elementary School Vocal Jazz group have been accepted to the American Choral Director’s Association National Youth Honor Chorus.

The students are fourth-graders Hannah Upkes, Laura Langdale, and Jackie Muri, and fifth-grader Sarah Wells-Moran.

They will stay in Chicago March 9-12 to rehearse, and then perform with 300 of the best fourth- through ninth-grade youth singers across the country, who were chosen through a submitted audition.

“This is an amazing opportunity for students to perform with 300 of the best fourth- through ninth-grade students in the United States,” Grass Valley music teacher Natalie Wilson said. “There were 800 applicants for 300 positions and Grass Valley proudly has one percent of them.”

The students’ families are financially responsible for all aspects of the trip, except what monies the students rasie.

Donations of any kind are accepted to help with expenses as each parent must also travel.

E-mail Wilson at natalie.wilson@camas.wednet.edu for more information on how to contribute.
