Camas gift shop holds open house

The Uncommon Gift in downtown Camas will hold a holiday open house Thursday, from 3 to 7 p.m.

The event will feature Christmas gifts and new and one-of-a-kind items. A free gift will be provided with every purchase, and other specials will be in place.

There will be free drawings to win a holiday basket and two tickets to the Holiday Home Tour, which is scheduled for the first weekend in December in Camas. Refreshments will be served.

Chamber luncheon is Thursday

Search engine optimization will be the topic of Thursday’s Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Camas Meadows golf club.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Dene Grigar, program director of digital technology and culture at Washington State University Vancouver. She will discuss how to optimize a website for the best search engine results.

Grigar has been involved in digital media for more than 20 years, using computers and computing devices to analyze information, produce multimedia and develop tools for teaching and learning.

Camas Meadows is located at 4105 N.W. Camas Meadows Drive. The luncheon opens at 11:30 a.m. for networking, followed by the program beginning at noon.

The November luncheon is being sponsored by Journey Community Church.

Costco to open near 192nd Avenue

The newest Costco Wholesale store is expected to open in east Vancouver on the day before Thanksgiving.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled to occur Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 7:30 a.m., and the store will open at 8 a.m.

It will feature a selection of groceries, books, clothing, electronics, health and beauty items, office products, jewelry, home decor, hardware and sports and fitness equipment. The store will also have a pharmacy, gas station, one-hour photo, service deli, bakery, food court and optical and hearing aid products.

Costco Wholesale, 19610 S.E. First St., will be open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 885-1235 or visit www.costco.com.

Lions sell poinsettias

The Washougal Lions Club has gotten into the swing of the holiday season with its annual poinsettia sale.

The popular Christmas season flowers with seven to eight blooms are being sold at a cost of one for $15, two for $25, and $20 for $240.

The orders will be delivered after Friday, Nov. 19.
