Harvest festivals and Halloween events abound

As the autumn days begin to get a bit more gray, one thing is for certain: It’s fall in the Northwest. Thankfully, in the Camas and Washougal areas, there are enough harvest festivals and Halloween events to keep kids in candy all through the long, wet winter. There’s even a 21-and-older costume party with live music.

Family Halloween Night

Camas Parks and Recreation will host its annual Family Halloween Night at Liberty Middle School, 1612 N.E. Garfield St., from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.

The entire family is invited for a fun-filled night of carnival games, which are designed for children ages 2 through 12, and prizes.

A costume contest, bingo, inflatable games, caricature drawings and crafts will complete the evening. All children attending must be accompanied by an adult.

Bring two cans of food or a new, unwrapped toy to benefit the Inter-Faith Treasure House and be eligible for the evening’s raffle. For more information, contact Parks and Recreation at 834-5307.

Community Harvest Celebration

The newly revamped Fern Prairie Grange will host a Harvest Celebration from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at the grange hall, 1816 N.E. 267th Ave., in Fern Prairie.

Children are encouraged to come in costume.

There will be games, a silent auction and a pumpkin carving contest. Attendees are asked to bring a pre-carved pumpkin for this event.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring a cake for the cake walk. Dinner will also be served for $5 a plate.

Boo Bash

Little goblins and princesses can hit the streets of downtown Camas where local business owners on Fourth Avenue and adjoining streets will provide candy for trick-or-treaters Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Attendees are advised to arrive a few minutes early, as parking becomes scarce as the afternoon goes on.

Harvest Festival

The community is invited to join other Washougal Community Library patrons at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 for an afternoon of crafts, games and snacks.

Non-scary costumes are welcome. The library is located at 1661 “C” St. For details, call 835-5393.

Woodland Fairy Pumpkin Hunt

The city of North Bonneville will host a pumpkin hunt at North Bonneville City Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. The event will include the hunt, games and prizes, cupcakes and refreshments, and a gift shop with food. Tickets are $7 per person or $25 for a family package. The park is located at 214 CDB Mall. Fifth-annual Pumpkin Patch

The Halloween spirit will be out and about during the fifth-annual pumpkin patch at the Skamania County Fairgrounds in Stevenson.

Oct. 26 through 28, there will be hay rides, trolley rides, a hay bale maze, fishing for candy and pumpkin bowling. There will also be games, crafts and the opportunity to pick a pumpkin to take home.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 26 and Thursday, Oct. 28, and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

For those who like a little fright in the holiday, the fairgrounds will host the Cabin Fever Haunted House daily, from Oct. 23 to Halloween night, weeknights until 10 p.m., and weekends until 11 p.m.

“A Monster Masquerade Ball” in Stevenson

Stevenson’s grown-up Halloween party for adults 21 and older will be Friday, Oct. 29, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Sponsored by the Stevenson Business Association, the night of fun takes place in the Exhibit Hall at the Skamania County Fairgrounds. The cost is $10 per person.

The Love Skunks will play live music for dancing, with a DJ spinning tunes in between sets. Drinkable concoctions brewed by the Skamania Lodge will be provided at a no-host bar.

In a costume contest, prizes will be given to those with the best individual, couple or group costume in several categories: scariest, funniest, most unique and best couple or group. The fairgrounds are at 710 Rock Creek Drive. For more information, call 800-989-9178.

Fall Kids Carnival

Parkside Church is hosting a free carnival from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. It will include games, food, indoor trick-or-treating, game booths, face painting, food and drinks. Attendees are encouraged to wear a non-scary costume. The church is located at 1420 N.E. Third Ave., in Camas.
