Mary Mabry
May 1, 1939 – August 2, 2024
Mary Mabry, a lifelong resident of Camas, Washington, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in Camas, Mary dedicated her life to her community and family, leaving a lasting legacy of service and compassion.
Mary was a remarkable community leader and advocate. She founded the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society, reflecting her deep love for animals. Her commitment to service extended to her involvement with the Soroptimist Club, where she worked to improve the lives of women and children in the area. Mary’s passion for music was evident as she sang with various local singing groups. Her civic engagement included serving on the Camas City Council and leading a local Girl Scouts troop, nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Professionally, Mary contributed her skills at the Camas Papermill and later at Highland Terrace Nursing Home, where she touched many lives with her dedication and care.
Mary is survived by her three children: Denise Hood, Doug Mabry, and David Mabry. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her for her unwavering spirit, kindness, and her tireless efforts to make her community a better place.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Fern Prairie Church, located at 26112 NE Brunner Rd in Camas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society in her honor.
Mary’s legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
