Two arrested for burglarizing Washougal gun shop

Two men have been arrested and charged with multiple crimes after reportedly crashing a stolen car into a Washougal gun store and stealing multiple firearms last month.

Karsan Carlos, 20, of Vancouver, and TK Kinter, 18, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on April 2 on suspicion of first-degree burglary, first-degree malicious mischief, possession of a stolen vehicle and 10 counts of theft of a firearm. Judge David Gregersen set bail amounts of $200,000 for Carlos and $100,000 for Kinter.

The two men are scheduled to be arraigned this week.

Washougal Police Department (WPD) officers respond to a report of a robbery in progress at Limitless America, 501 26th St., Washougal, at 6:31 a.m. March 30. Upon arrival, they located a Kia Soul vehicle, which had crashed through the front doors and was stuck inside the building with “no occupants and nobody around,” according to WPD officer Gregory Sulzinger.

“Several witnesses were interviewed and stated that they saw two males, wearing dark clothing, running away from the scene,” Sulzinger stated in court documents.

Eric Hargrave, the store’s owner, reviewed video surveillance footage, which showed a Kia Soul parked near the store’s entrance before “quickly accelerating to a high rate of speed and intentionally crashing into the front entrance of the business through the front doors,” according to court documents. The store suffered more than $5,000 in damages.

According to police, the video showed two people wearing masks and hoods, exiting the vehicle inside the store and using a chair to break the glass protecting firearms for sale inside Limitless America.

“They stole multiple handguns and quickly ran from the business eastbound on ‘E’ Street, leaving the vehicle inside the building,” police stated in court documents. “The vehicle was later confirmed to be stolen from Mitzie McPherson. Additionally, one suspect is observed wearing a backpack while fleeing the store. One stolen handgun was recovered from the sidewalk on ‘E’ Street, a short distance away, likely dropped when the suspects had fled, and was returned to Limitless America.”

A Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputy confronted two men wearing dark clothing several blocks away at Safway, 3307 Evergreen Way. According to court documents, the two men identified themselves and told WPD officer Trevor Claudson they had walked from Vancouver to Washougal “to hang out with some homeless guys named ‘Jack’ and ‘Harry.’”

“Based on the video surveillance footage, TK and Karsan were wearing the exact same shoes as both burglary suspects from Limitless America, with specific identifying features,” police stated in their report. “Karsan was wearing black Nike shoes with white trim on the bottom, with a Nike ‘swoosh’ logo on the side. TK was wearing all-black shoes with white trim. Karsan was also wearing a purple basketball jersey, which can be seen underneath a black jacket in the video surveillance footage. TK’s black jacket matched one of the suspects’ jackets in the video surveillance video.”

Neither suspect carried a backpack or firearms when they were confronted by the officers and taken into custody, according to court documents.

“During a search, Karsan was found to have broken glass, tinted like the glass at the store, inside his shoes,” police stated in court documents. “The bottom of their shoes also matched footprints on the hood of the Kia Soul, which they had climbed over when fleeing the business.”

Hargrave located a backpack “stuffed in some arborvitae trees” at the 3200 block of Webster Lane, not far from where police had arrested Carlos and Kinter. Officers found a black sweatshirt with a white logo on the hood that matched what one suspect was wearing in the video footage, and nine handguns and firearms of various makes, models and calibers with sales tags from Limitless America still attached, according to the police report

“Additionally, Ring camera footage from (a residence on) 33rd Street captured TK and Karsan walking eastbound on Webster Lane and onto 33rd Street at approximately 6:48 on March 30,” police stated in their report.

According to The Post-Record’s sister publication, The Columbian, Carlos had previous firearms-related charges, and had been arrested previously, in July 2023 in connection with a drive-by shooting outside an East Vancouver apartment complex, and charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
