Janet P Crane

Janet Crane passed away September 19, 2023, in Seattle, Washington with her family by her side. She was born July 27, 1937, in Woodburn, Oregon, to Leo and Alma Yoder. Her father was a traveling pastor. While growing up, the family lived in Molalla, OR, Portland, OR, and Sacramento, CA. Janet met her future husband, David when they were14; they married in 1956 in Portland, Oregon. They moved to Camas after the birth of their second child, later adding two more children to the family. Janet was a stay-at-home mom, but also worked as necessary to make ends meet. She was involved with Young Life and hosted the Fern Prairie area Busy Bees quilting club. Janet both worked and volunteered in the Camas School District. She attended her kids’ programs, concerts, and competitions, and was a favorite chaperone. She was a strawberry field boss/bus driver for many summers. An avid photographer, she photographed significant events, and surprised people with pictures she knew they would treasure. Janet was spunky, adventurous, generous, and loving; she and David hosted exchange students from Germany and France. Janet and David moved to Ellensburg, Washington, where they hosted a college professor from Russia and countless college students. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, and a son-in-law. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David; by her children, Marilyn Felipe of Camas, WA, Gay (Hal) Ott of Ellensburg, WA, Nathan (Mandy) Crane of Elma, WA, and Michael Crane of Aberdeen, WA; by her siblings Mildred Yoder of Portland, Phyllis (Mailan) Crist of Portland, Juanita (Gary) Long of Portland, Janet (Charles) Frayer of Taylor, AZ, Henry Yoder and Orlin Yoder of Portland, Loren Yoder of Camas, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves a big hole in our hearts, but we know she is rejoicing with Jesus and the loved ones who have gone on before. Janet was buried at Fern Prairie Cemetery; her memorial will be Sunday, 10/22/23 at 2:00 at Camas Church of the Nazarene.
