Construction starts on Washougal apartment complex

Construction on Portland-based Killian Pacific’s latest development Ninebark, a 246-unit apartment community on the Washougal waterfront, is under way. 

“We are thrilled to partner with Sunrise Management on Ninebark, where we plan to deliver a unique and nature infused experience, unlike anything else in the market,” Kristen Feldhusen, director of development Killian Pacific, said in a news release.

Sunrise Management, a San Diego-based firm specializing in the management of residential real estate properties, is overseeing the lease-up and all management activities.

“We are thrilled to add this forward-thinking, sustainably oriented property to our growing collection of properties in the region,” Sunrise Management president and chief executive officer Joe Greenblatt said in the news release. “With the addition of Ninebark, we now manage 2,134 units in the Pacific Northwest and anticipate further growth.”

Killian Pacific hopes to start pre-leasing in October and complete construction in the spring of 2023. 

Ninebark is connected to a new one-acre public park along the river’s edge that Sunrise will also manage in a public/private partnership. The community features a freestanding amenity space with a central fireplace, private meeting and co-working spaces and a fully equipped fitness center. Art installations by regional and indigenous artists will be featured throughout the community and in the public park.
