The Camas High School baseball and boys soccer teams’ 2022 seasons came to an end in state tournament play on Saturday, May 21.
The Papermakers’ baseball squad fell to Issaquah 6-0 in a 4A state tournament first-round contest at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey, Washington, while the Camas boys soccer team lost to Pasco 3-1 in a 4A state tournament quarterfinal game at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco, Washington.
BASEBALL: The Papermakers, seeded ninth in the 16-team tournament, were held to just three hits by Issaquah starting pitcher Maxwell Goldberg, who struck out eight in a complete-game effort.
“We just have our off games,” Camas senior Drew Hancock told The Columbian, the Post-Record’s sister paper. “You can’t be perfect all the time. It’s a tough game.”
No. 8 seed Issaquah scored four two-out runs in the third inning, a rally aided by an error and two wild pitches.
